How do I stop my digital addiction ?

I am not against social media or the big internet revolution neither I am going to prefix my sentences with Humare Zamane main.. ( In our time..) however what I will do is talk a little about the changing fabric of our society and our children.
Our world has become so close that we can click a like on our favorite celebrity’s bathroom selfie right before the mist dries out from their rich, smooth and flawless skin.
Today’s youth is looking for constant validation of their looks, life style and their personality from internet.
You are popular and loved if you get more likes and you ain’t if you don’t, It is phenomenal to see people counting their birthday wishes and feeling great about it.
While we are able to manifest our emotions to the world, Are we really manifesting our true-selves ?

What we are witnessing today is tremendous amount of distraction, There is so much to do that sleeping at nights appears to be a waste of time. We are opening our lives for the world to see, We all have becomes the next shining photographers with capabilities of angle and sense of surrounding, composition. We have the power to seize the moment and then place it in front of the world to appreciate.

All goes well when it gets appreciated however this world can get cruel at times and that is where the the modern day problem begins – Depression and self-destruction.

We immediately start doubting our choices, our likes, our own face because “They” didn’t like it. There is a serious crisis of self awareness and focus. We have access to so much information that we have stopped learning ,because end of the day you will google your way through. May be that is how we are now supposed to live, Know nothing, Learn nothing when the time comes your situation will get auto-corrected anyways.

Students are distracted with the buffet of internet apps . At one side you got Netflix , Prime etc. where actors are humming “b*h*n C***” as if its part of the oxford catalog and one must fuckin learn the smut to survive. The other side we have FBs,Instagram,Whatsapp, Network games and entire array of “go get crazy” applications. There is so much to do that we have a new age anxiety called as FOMO – Fear of missing out

We are the new age millennial who starts looking like 18 when they are 12, The other day I was reading a suicide note left by a 12 year old girl about how she was born to die this way, She had tied a plastic bag around her face and had slit her wrist and wrote live as she slipped away into darkness. It has been assumed that she suffered from depression. We are bored of being not bored I guess!

Unfortunate it may sound but its not easy to live . There is lot of pressure to perform, look good and constantly show content in your life. I have seen people attempting to do a digital detox by announcing it to the world – Bye Bye Facebook , I need you no more ! Hello Life I am coming back ! (Doesn’t work )

Well it sucks to be living like this ! My recommendation – Draw a line. Its very important to know when you have to stop and I can’t teach you this in my little blog. It’s okay to miss out, It’s okay not to post anything for months. Use internet to learn , Do not treat it as your extension. Go out and smell the green grass, See the great moments from your eyes not through the mobile camera. Most importantly click photos for your own memory and not for the world. You are not worthless if you don’t get likes, You are not popular either if you get many likes. It just happened to be !
